RSE

Year 4 classes would have been taught RSE during the week commencing 29th June 2020. The scheme of work covers:

  • Being unique
  • Having a baby
  • Girls and puberty
  • Confidence in change
  • Accepting change
  • Preparing for transition
  • Environmental change

Please see the working from home page on the school’s website for some activity suggestions that your child can do relating to some of these areas. There you will find different activities, supporting websites and links. If you wish to recap any knowledge from the previous year, this can be found on the Year 3 page.

To avoid confusion, it is important that the proper terminology for the parts of the body are used from Reception upwards. It is fine for children to call the parts of the body by the ‘home’ names when not in school, but to prevent misunderstanding and confusion during lessons and school, proper names will be used, for example: penis; vagina; and nipple etc.

Vocabulary we use in Year 4 – acceptance, anxious, change, characteristics, circle, conception, control, egg, excited, fertilise, menstruation, nervous, ovaries, parents, penis, periods, personal, puberty, seasons, sexual intercourse, sperm, testicles, unique, vagina, womb/uterus.
