Each child has a record file which contains observations, notes on development, photographs, samples of work and staff comments.
These files are sent home at regular intervals throughout the year and we encourage parents/carers to contribute by adding notes on development that you may have noticed at home.
You are also welcome to look through and contribute to your child's record file at any other time - we have a box in the cloakroom for you to pop any observations into (though please remember to include your child's name and the date on each observation).
It may also be useful to share the record file with other settings that your child may attend (please speak with your child's key person if this is something you feel would be beneficial).
If you would like to look at your child's record file at any time, please speak to your child's key person who will arrange this for you.
You'll see in your child's record file that the information covers the three prime areas and four specific areas of learning as per the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Each observation is dated month/year, levels of development are recorded on a tracking sheet, the figures refer to developmental progress in months. These trackers are a guide to making judgements about whether a child is showing typical development for their age.
We welcome and value parental input in their child's record of development file. Information we gain through observations and talking and sharing information with parents enables us to provide a curriculum best suited to the individual child.
